A journal can hold the things that are easy to forget: a conversation, an ordinary afternoon, or a thought you want to return to. memoir gives those moments a place beside one another, with text, photos, voice notes, sketches, and mood check-ins.
Start with one thing from today
Open your journal and write a sentence about something that happened. You can add another entry later rather than waiting to summarize the whole day. The writing guide explains how to save, edit, and date your entries.
If you do not know what to write, try “Today I want to remember…” or choose a question from the free prompt library.
Add the details words leave out
A photo can show a place or a small detail. A voice note keeps the way you said something. A sketch gives you another way to record an idea.
Add a few words of context when they will help you recognize the memory later. Some features require memoir+; the app shows what is included before you choose an upgrade.
Return to an entry
Your timeline keeps entries together by day. Use Search when you remember a word, date, person, or place. Reflection offers ways to revisit past memories and recorded moods, including On This Day when matching entries are available.
You can add a new entry about what you notice now while keeping the original thought as it was.
Choose your privacy and backup settings
memoir stores journal data locally by default. You can set an app passcode and review supported device authentication. Optional iCloud Sync with memoir+ uses your personal iCloud account.
Keep a separate backup before changing devices or making major changes to your library. Sync and backup serve different purposes. The privacy policy explains data handling in more detail.
Keep a journal that fits your day
A short entry is still an entry. You can write regularly, return after a gap, or use different formats for different moments. Start with something you would like to remember, then build from there.
